Kathy Schmugge is the Senior Director of Social Ministry for the Diocese of Charleston, and the Director of the Office of Family Life. She is Vice President of the diocese Academy of Life, and a member of the National Association of Catholic Family Life Ministers, Catholic Medical Association and Catholic Partnership for Disabilities. She served in the U.S. Navy teaching Nuclear Physics and Reactor Principles.

She holds a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry and Bioethics, a Master of Theological Studies, and is a Ph.D. candidate at the Regina Apostolorum.
